Becoming one of the worst and most extensive wars in the history of the United States, the Vietnam War opened a gateway of opportunity to pioneer the use of helicopters. Events leading up to the beginning of this war prompted helicopter involvement and assistance in many operations including the first test, the Battle at Ia Drang Valley. Famously known for its achievements and work, the Huey Helicopter became known as the symbol of the Vietnam War for its ability as a Medevac, search and rescue, and gunship helicopter. Revolutionizing infantry warfare, the new airmobile division set forth a vision of success and efficiency.
